The Austin Healey Sprite and MG Midget have always had braking problems, never more so that now in the twenty-first century as we strive for more power and speed. The standard brakes were too small and inadequate in 1958 when all this began. The factory brakes overheated very quickly and faded rapidly.
To drive these cars in the traffic we now have would be dangerous. Here is the state-of-the-art answer to all these problems, a 9 rear disc brake conversion. With the largest discs that will fit under 13 wheels, powerful calipers and pads this conversion brings a Spridget's braking right up to date, with a very positive pedal and superb stopping power.
This is a bolt-on kit and comes with the upgrade of drilled /slotted rotors that have the centers powder coated for lasting beauty. The full kit comes complete with new slotted/drilled rotors, calipers, pads, adapter brackets, fitting kit and full instructions with installation photos. All you need to install is time and tools. This kit is easy to install, retains the original emergency brake hardware, replaces the rubber brake hose with a stainless steel braided brakeline and fits many aftermarket 13 wheels as well as the factory wheels. This kit features a full 9 rear rotor with proper sized caliper pistons for optimum braking power.The caliper is mounted in the correct location to provide superior braking torque and due to the caliper location this will fit both semi elliptic and quarter elliptic spring cars. The caliper is mounted on a high quality 6061-T6 aluminum billet CNC machined bracket that is black anodized for lasting beauty and OE quality specification. All of the stainless steel braided hoses in the kit meet and exceed DOT MS 106 specifications.
The kit hardware is grade 8, grade 10.8, stainless or military specification. Due to several questions I have received in the past few days.The kit fits wire wheel cars. The kit works with the double rear axle bearing kits available in the aftermarket. The brake kit fits with tube shock conversions.
